RID-HD: Riluzole Dosing in Huntington's Disease

For Information Only!
No research participants are currently being recruited for this trial.
Riluzole, a drug developed by Rhône-Poulenc Rorer, has been found to be effective in extending the life of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Under the leadership of Frederick Marshall, MD, an application for funding of this study was submitted in November 1998 to the FDA Orphan Drug Division for a multi-center study, "RIluzole Dosing in Huntington's Disease" (RID-HD). The focus of this 64-subject, 8-site study will be the assessment of the safety and tolerability of riluzole at various doses, as well as riluzole's potential symptomatic benefits on motor, cognitive and behavioral symptoms, in persons with HD.
